ROCK 'N' ROLL DEMOCRACY IN MUSIC

  Bluesman Jon Paris, who does the increasingly popular and, by contemporary nightclub standards, affordable Monday night All-Star Blues Jams in Lucille's Grill at the BB King's at 227 West 42nd Street in Manhattan at what Mr. Paris describes as "the center of the universe", reminds is that "the blues had a baby and they named it rock 'n' roll." Taking it back historically, gospel had a baby and they called it the blues. taking it back several centuries, Johann Sebastian Bach, with his variations over a bass foundation, established the structure of what became the blues. And if you want to go back still further, at least for lyrics, it's best go to the Psalms in the Old Testament.

  Mr. Paris - who has performed and/or recorded with Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Johnny Winter, Bob Dylan, Les Paul, John Lee Hooker, et. al. - does three sets. The first is with his band, which includes the bassist-and poet Amy Madden and, depending on scheduling, a number of virtuoso drummers. He performs "covers" such as Chuck Berry's not very well-known slide guitar instrumental "Deep Feeling", the much better known Johnny B. Goode, some Jimi Hendrix, some of his own compositions and tunes from what seems to be a mental encyclopedia of songs. The band does some Jimmy Reed blues and some Buddy Holly rock 'n' roll. During the second and third sets, Jon invites musicians who are present to join the band. A regular is Joe Berger, who, if he were a violinist, would be compared with Niccolò Paganini. Angelina Rose sings gospel with the Jon Paris band, Gass from Britain, sings songs by the Rolling Stones but told me that he does not perform "Gimme Shelter", which he regards as "The Holy Grail" of rock 'n' roll. I agree. He and I also agree that "Gimme Shelter" requires a powerful female voice. Maybe if Mick Jagger, Adele and/or the somewhat less well known Rebecca Moore show up, a "Holy Grail" performance could happen. And speaking of Adele, a regular I know only as Meredith does a very compelling rendition of  the Steve Winwood and Traffic anthem of spiritual and earthly despair and survival, "Can't Find My Way Home." They do some Jimmy Reed blues, some Buddy Holly, some Stevie Wonder and also gorgeous Chris Isaacs song, "Wicked Games" that would quiet even the most boisterous rock 'n' roll crowd. The food and service there are very good.

   Some of those who perform at the Jon Paris Blues Jams at BB KIng's also sing and play at another no cover charge live music (and poetry) venue. the Sidewalk Cafe on the Northeast corner of East 6th Street and Avenue A in the East Village. Amy Madden has played bass there for the undiluted bluesman Ricky Byrd. Mac McCarty & Kidd Twist are a sometimes quite Irish and political led by a very forceful singer with something to say. The Lord Calverts are ready for Saturday Night Live, especially if these middle aged very gifted musicians show up in CEO-style business suits and perform originals in a very good mood. Lower East Side elder statesman David Peel performs - and talks politics - there recurrently, backed up by what seems to be a constantly changing collective, which includes some surviving hippies. Rock 'n' roll poetry is done there very assertively by Jennifer Blowdryer and Puma Perl and their respective bands.

   The food and service at Sidewalk are very good also.

STOPPING RACIST NEO-FASCISM IN AMERICA. WHO CAN BEAT TRUMP? NOT HILLARY; ONLY BERNIE!  THE  INTEGRITY FACTOR AND THE TIBET FACTOR.

     Adolf Hitler, the father of "The Big Lie", was smart enough to sprinkle in a few truths with his genocide predicting rants that mesmerized millions of economically devastated post-World War I defeated Germans and Austrians. Hitler understood that if one lies all the time, one becomes predictable and easily exposed. He was "truthful" and correct in asserting that the masses of quite destitute Germans and Austrians were being victimized by the "capitalists" in charge of the World War I victorious governments that forced the economically devastating Versailles Treaty on defeated Germany and Austria. It was the masses who paid those "reparations."

   And so Hitler oratorically and violently positioned himself as the leader (fuhrer) of the National Socialist German Workers Party, much better known as the Nazi Party. His message, not unlike Donald Trump's, was "populist." It was nationalistic, militaristic and racist. Hitler's main scapegoat was of course the Jews. And, although Adolf Hitler did not win the votes of the majority of German, he did much better than all the other factionalized "left" and "conservative"

parties in the Weimar Republic and was "elected" as Chancellor of Germany. It took him about 150 days to transform Germany from a political democracy into the Nazi dictatorship bent on annihilating the Jews and other "inferior" races and on world conquest.

   Donald Trump's message, often delivered with the malevolently "charismatic" flair that characterized Hitler's speeches, is nationalistic, xenophobic, populist and surely racist - and, not at all surprisingly, is attracting the support of Jew and African-American-hating KKK neo-nazis like David Duke and Jared Taylor, all of whom approve of Trump's recent praise of some of the mega-aggressive oratory of the founder of fascism, the late Benito Mussolini.

 So where does "The Donald" tell the truth? That's an easy one. Every time he accuses Hillary Clinton of being a "liar" Donald Trump is telling the truth!

  Hillary lied about facing snipers' bullets in Sarajevo. She is lying about her privatizing her State Department emails. Every time she speaks at, for example, an African-American church or a liberal Jewish organization and claims that he she is for the poor and the homeless she is lying, inasmuch as she refused to be a U.S. Senate sponsor of the oft-introduced Bringing America Home Act, an important bill aimed at ending homelessness in America. Every time she says she is for human rights she is lying, as both she and her husband, symbiotically tied to the mega-corporate Wall Street bunch known as The China Lobby, are up to their joint eyeballs in the political coverup of the racist genocide being perpetrated by the light-complexioned totalitarian rulers "Communist" China against the dark-complexioned ethically, culturally and linguistically distinct people and nation of formerly independent Tibet, the land that about 2000 years ago was home to Jesus (aka "Issa") Himself.  And that is why Hillary Clinton - and some of her Mob-linked pals such as NYS Senator Diane Savino (D.-S.I./Bklyn.), whose Mafioso Chief of Staff, Robert Cataldo, fully aware of my 2005-06 Democratic write-in candidacy for the U.S. Senate against then incumbent Hillary Clinton (visit www.tomweissdemocratforussenate.blogspot.com, committed a major terroristic act of criminal harassment (NYPD Complaint # 2006-120-8244)against me at my scheduled appointment with him in Ms. Savino's otherwise unoccupied district office in Staten Island on a very urgent constituent matter when I was homeless - lied to (and about) me!

  As far as I am aware, Bernie Sanders is the only candidate, who, aside from taking on the billionaires backing Republicrat Hillary and the Republicans - has, via his May 21, 2015 email to me (after lots of calls and emails from me to his Senate office in Washington), announced his support for "self-determination for the Tibetan people". Bernie is in good company as that is also the position of my acquaintance Dr. Cornel West..

   It's time for Bernie Sanders to take the gloves off and expose Hillary's lies and talk out loud about freedom for Tibet.

   After Brooklyn born and raised Bernie wins the critical New York primary on April 19 against more recent New York State resident Hillary and becomes the Democratic Party nominee he can take on another billionaire, in this case the neo-fascistic Donald Trump and beat him - perhaps by a landslide.

THE BATTLE FOR STATEN ISLAND. DEVELOPERS AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK DECLARE CLASS WAR ON NORTH SHORE  STATEN ISLAND - "NOSHO." THE "BAY STREET CORRIDOR" MEETINGS. (S)ELECTED OFFICIALS, I.E. "THE UNHOLY TRINITY" OF MACHINE DEMOCRATS, ARE NO HELP. WE LOST MOUNT MANRESA TO THE DEVELOPERS. IT WON"T HAPPEN AGAIN..

    Inasmuch as it would be a major mistake for the public, particularly in Staten Island, to depend on the multiibillionaire Donald Newhouse-owned Staten Island Advance (aka "The Staten Island Retreat"), a paper with a history of pro-developer tilt and covering up major politicall corruoption, some of it involving the mob (Robert Cataldo) Chief of Staff to New York State Senator Diane Savino (D.-S.I./Bklyn.), for fair and thorough coverage of the issue of politically connected gentrification in Staten Island this is likely to be the first of a number of newsbreaking articles in UP FRONT News about what could amount to disguised politically and economically generated "ethnic cleansing" in the so-called "forgotten borough" of Staten Island, still one of the few remaining outposts of "affordability" in New York City. 

  At the most recent open to the public meeting last Saturday of the NYC Department of Planning, NYC Economic Development Corporation, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development-organized "town hall"-style gatherings focusing on the major rezoning and development plans for the "Bay Street Corridor", which stretches through the working class neighborhoods of St. George, Tompkinsville and Stapleton (where I live) in ethnically diverse North Shore Staten Island (known as "NoSho" by readers of UP FRONT News), the government people unveiled a plan for the rezoning and redevelopment of much of the North Shore.

  If this plan were to actually be operationalized several  working classd communities would be destroyed and replaced by upscale housing snd the related commercial entities - all of which are near one of the centerpieces of this plan, the now under construction "World's Largest Ferris Wheel", between the St. George S.I. Ferry Terminal and the ball park of the minor league Staten Island Yankees.,

  Department of City Planning Project Manager Daniel Viera facilitated the Saturday February 20 meeting - very nicely, actually allowing me to speak, setting him in sharp contrast to for example the Staten Island Democratic Association, which is connected to "The Unholy Trinity" of Diane Savino, Assemblyman Matthew Titone and NYC Coiuncilmember Debi Rose, where, at least when I am present, meetings are run according to Mussolini's Rules of Order. Mr. Viera mentioned the existence of an "advisory group" working with the government agencies on this plan, When I asked him how I would get onto this advsory group he suggested that I speak with one of the (s)electeds. I told him that his suggestion was the equivalent of asking an African-American in 1950s Birmingham Alabama to speak to a local (s)elected about joining a government run advisory committee.   I urged Mr. Viera to expand his outreach to include for example Temple Emanu-el in Port Richmond, led by UP FRONT News readers human rights and "Building Bridges" leaders Rabbi Gerald and Boni Sussman, both of whom are members of the Council of Jewish Organizations of S.I., led by (UP FRONT News reader) Mendy Mirocznik, who also has the facts on Diane Savino's favoirite mobster, the explosive criminal Robert Cataldo, The govenment also needs to involve The Church That Never Closes in Prince's Bay, on S.I.'s more "exurban" and indeed borderline rural South Shore. Very much like Jesus Himself, The (still pastorless) Church That Never Closes focuses its ministry on the poor and draws many people from "NoSho" to its services and very good meals.

   Many people know about the loss of the gorgeous Jesuit Mount Manresa retreat to the developer Savo Brothers, whose contribution to the homeless explosion has been to build upscale housing there. S.I. Borough President Republican James Oddo is belatedly furious about all that. In any case, he should never have accepted that campaign donation from the Savo Brothers when heran for Borough President.

  As far as I can tell most if not all of the machine Democrats who run things in NoSho are corporation favorite Hillary Clinton supporters. So what! Telll her that Staten Island is changing.

   As Eric Garner, the victim in an actual police lynching - the full facts of which are covered up the Staten Island Advance and the entire political and media establishment and reported exclusively in UP FRONT News - said, as he was attacked by Police Officer Danierl Pantalkeo, "It stops here!"
