The No Police State Coalition Online Discussion Group
THE BOOK OF ROMAN (SINGULAR)

What a few years ago was started by political activist Roman Shusterman as an email exchange among people involved with the No Police State Coalition, a free speech group holding public issue speakouts in Union Square, is evolving into an internet discussion group and news service which is drawing interest and sometimes participation from the underground and the overground. Partly because of the issues written about, including the question of to what degree 9/11 was an "inside job", Hillary Clinton, Iraq, homelessness, Anthony Weiner, Tibet, Holocaust denial, John Edwards, class struggle, Lenora Fulani, racism, rock 'n' roll, Jesus, and the anti-Christ(s), among other subjects, participation has broadened. And I'm doing my best to see to it that Hillary Clinton, Anthony Weiner, and John Edwards are among its readers and maybe contributors.

Shusterman, an unabashed First Amendment oriented leftist from that Marxist hotbed known as Coney Island, is making an important contribution by encouraging free internet discussion of issues that are often misreported or censored out of the print and broadcast media - whether "alternative" (e.g. the heavily censored "Indypendent") or "mainstream", where news management is a way of life. While many mainstream newspapers, e.g. the Daily News with Juan Gonzalez, the New York Times with Bob Herbert, Newsday with Les Payne and Ellis Henican, employ columnists who go their own way, mainstream news editors tend to go with what is safe. And at the New York Post, they tend to go with what appeals to our basest instincts. It is those realities, which limit our full use of the Bill of Rights, that, about 27 years ago, made me decide to start publishing what has become UP FRONT News.
